ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) lawmaker Kashmala Tariq Tuesday took oath as the federal ombudsperson on protection against harassment of women at workplace.
President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath.
Soon after taking oath, Kashmala said her first initiative would be to create awareness about harassment. “We will launch a social campaign both for men and women.”
Appointed as an ombudsperson for a period of four years, the former parliamentarian added that she would make efforts to strengthen harassment laws in the country.
Referring to the harassment incident at a Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) rally earlier in the day, Tariq said she would rope in women in parliament to help bring change. “Every woman should be a part of this movement.”
